GUWAHATI: Assam’s Riyan Parag has been selected for the India A team to compete in the Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023, which will take place in Colombo from July 13–23. Ahead of the ACC Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023, the Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) confirmed the India A team.
The captain will be Yash Dhull, who led his squad to victory in the 2022 under-19 World Cup, and the vice-captain will be Abhishek Sharma. The team also included Tamil Nadu's Sai Sudharsan, who excelled with Gujarat Titans during the current Indian Premier League. A spot was also provided for Pradosh Ranjan Paul, a player for his state team.
The team of 15 includes bowlers Manav Suther and Yuvrajsinh Dodiya. Along with Nepal, UAE A, and Pakistan A, India is in Group B. Group A is made up of Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, Afghanistan A, and Oman A. The top two finishers in each group proceed to the semifinal games, which will be held on July 21.
On July 23, the final will take place.
On the other hand, Riyan Parag was a member of the India U-19 team that won the U-19 World Cup in 2018. He played alongside Shubman Gill in the same squad and was captained by Prithvi Shaw.
Despite playing in the IPL for a number of years, Parag has not been able to have a significant influence.
At the IPL 2018 auctions, the Rajasthan Royals, a former champion, picked Riyan Parag. For the previous five seasons, he has played for the same team, although he has never consistently produced game-winning performances for the group. The Royals have showed confidence in him over the past few years despite his dismal performances. However, Parag has performed admirably for Assam in the domestic circuit. He was chosen to play for India A at the Emerging Teams Asia Cup. The news has internet users in a tailspin.
