India emerges champion in South Asian Badminton Championship

In the girls U-15 Reddy caused an upset, defeating Naishaa Kaur 21-17, 21-15 while in the U-17 girls final Rujula Ramu won against Aishani Tiwari 21-13, 21-14

GUWAHATI: India emerged champion in all singles events in the South Asian Badminton Championship which concluded at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor stadium here today. In the girls u-15 singles final Tanvi Reddy caused an upset , defeating top seed Bhatoye Naishaa Kaur 21-17, 21-15. In the U-17 girls final Rujula Ramu won against Aishani Tiwari 21-13, 21-14.

Boy's event was also an all Indian affair. While in the U-15 category Prateek Koundilya defeated Abhinav Garg 21-19, 21-18 and Pranay Shettgar won against Saraswat Sankar 21-15, 21-5 in the boys U-17 category. The award function was attended by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and he also gave away the prizes.
