New Delhi: World No. 7, PV Sindhu on Sunday clinched her second women's singles title of the season after defeating fourth seed Thailand's Busanan Ongbamrungphan in the summit clash of the Swiss Open Super 300 badminton tournament.
Sindhu just took 49 minutes to beat the fourth-seeded Thai player by 21-16 21-8 at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel. This is Sindhu's second Super 300 title of the year. She has won Syed Modi International back in January.
While playing in her second successful final, Sindhu took an early 7-5 lead before Busanan fought back to make it 16-15. But the 26-year-old Indian recovered swiftly and went on to take the opening game 21-16.
Interestingly, the two-time Olympic medalist was merciless in the second game and stormed to a 5-0 lead. She led 11-2 at the mid-game interval, inching closer to her maiden Swiss Open title.
In a bid to come back in the game, Busanan, who trailed by a mile, made a poor fist of a comeback as Sindhu made it 17-4.
Eventually, after the change of the ends with such a massive lead, Sindhu didn't face any trouble in the second game. She took the game 21-18 to register a straight-game win over the opponent.
