GUWAHATI: Brahmaputra Volleyball League (BVL) will kick off tomorrow at Nalbari. 33 boys and 17 girls team will participate in the League which would be continued for the next 3 months.

Initially the "BVL Think Tank" struggled with the feeling of financial deficit, since most of the clubs couldn't afford to finance the kits and transport of the players to far away villages. However, for the first time in the Assam Sports arena, sportspersons, academicians, entrepreneurs, various alumni organizations came forward to support the cause of the league which is the brain child of Abhijit Bhattacharyya, former international volleyball player from the State. The promoters include Badminton Olympian AparnaPopat, International athlete Hima Das, former International badminton player AsawariParmar, Krishna HazarikaRao, former TT players including Arjuna Awardee MonalisaBaruah Mehta, MadalasaHazarikaBaruah and Assam Hockey Working President KishorJayantaMadhab among others. The promoters share the common vision of promoting sports in the grassroots level.
