Assam's Uma Chetry to Keep Wickets for India at the ACC Women's Asia Cup

The competition is scheduled to begin in Hong Kong on June 12, will feature the Indian team, which includes Uma Chetry

GUWAHATI: Following the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)'s announcement of India 'A' team on Friday, Assamese cricketer Uma Chetry will do the wicket-keeping in the next Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Emerging Women's Asia Cup 2023.

The competition will begin on June 12 in Hong Kong, and the Indian team, which includes Uma Chetry, will participate.

Assigned to Group A, Team India will face Hong Kong at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground on June 13 to kick off their campaign.

Eight teams will compete in the event, including five full-member teams from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, as well as three associate teams from Thailand, Malaysia, and the hosts Hong Kong. The U-23 or A teams from the five full-member countries will compete in the event.

The entire India 'A' team is made up of Trisha Gongadi, Muskan Malik, Shreyanka Patil, Kanika Ahuja, Uma Chetry, Mamatha Madiwala, Titas Sadhu, Yashasri S, Kashvee Gautam, Parshavi Chopra, Mannat Kashyap, and B Anusha. Shweta Sehrawat serves as captain.

Eight teams will be split into Groups A and B according to the tournament's structure. The top two clubs from each group that finished first and second in the league games proceed to the semi-finals.

Now that India 'A' (Emerging) is in the spotlight, the players are eager to demonstrate their skill on a global scale. The team, led by Shweta Sehrawat, has a wealth of fresh young talent, making them a serious contender in the competition.

Teams from all over Asia will compete in the ACC Emerging Women's Asia Cup 2023, which promises to be a tightly contested match. The competition offers a superb stage for up-and-coming players to demonstrate their talents and receive priceless exposure on a global scale.
