BCCI Appoints Assam's Kamakhya Saikia As Observer For India Vs New Zealand T20 Match

With New Zealand, India will play three T20 ODIs on November 17, 19 and 21. The team will also play two Tests matches on November 25-29 and December 3-7.

Mumbai: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Kamakhya Saikia, Joint Secretary, Assam Cricket Association "BCCI Observer" for the India vs New Zealand second T20 International match.

The second T20I will be held on November 19 in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

Assam Cricket Association took to the twitter and said, ''Assam Cricket Association takes great pleasure while informing that Shri Kamakhya Saikia, Joint Secretary, Assam Cricket Association has been appointed as "BCCI Observer" for the India Vs New Zealand Second T20 Match, scheduled to be held on November 19, 2021 in Ranchi''.

In 2019, Saikia was also appointed as the observer for the Emerging Team Asia Cup by BCCI.

Recently, the board announced the India's squad for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.

Newly appointed Captain Rohit Sharma along with other players like Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have all been rested.

''Virat Kohli will join the squad for the second Test and will lead the team,'' BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement.

With New Zealand, India will play three T20 ODIs on November 17, 19 and 21. The team will also play two Tests matches on November 25-29 and December 3-7.

The first test match will be played at Kanpur while the second will take place at Mumbai.

Ajinkya Rahane (Captain), KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara (vice-captain), Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Wriddhiman Saha (wicket-keeper), KS Bharat (wicket-keeper), Ravindra Jadeja, R. Ashwin, Axar Patel, Jayant Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Md. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna On Tuesday, the 16-member India squad in the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand was announced which will be lead by Rohit Sharma.

KL Rahul will be Sharma's deputy for the series while the likes of Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, and Ravindra Jadeja have been given a rest.

Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, and Avesh Khan are the new faces in the squad.
