BCCI Takes Disciplinary Action Against Cricketers After Lucknow Incident

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were fined 100% of their match fees for the misconduct.

LUCKNOW: The Board of Control for Cricket in India took strict against Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir and Naveen-ul-Haq for their misconduct of the players in a match. The incident took place at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Monday during the match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

As part of the disciplinary measures, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were fined 100% of their maths fees while Naveen -ul-Haq was fined 50% of his. BCCI held Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir guilty of a Level 2 offence while Naveen- ul- Haque was found guilty of a Level 1 offence. All the cricketers have admitted to their offences and accepted the sanctions. According to reports, the players violated the IPL Code of Conduct.

Virat Kohli was seen to be charged up and animated during the second innings of the match, which was taken as a response to Gautam Gambhir’s celebrations after their wins. Kohli was captured on the cameras imitating the actions done by Gambhir during the previous match between the two teams. In the 17th over of the match during the second innings, Virat Kohli had heated exchanges with Amit Mishra and Naveen -ul-Haq and the same continued even after the match was over.

Another conflict was seen taking place during the customary handshakes after the match when Virat Kohli and Naveen -ul-Haq exchanged a few more words and Kyle Mayers was talking to Virat Kohli when Gautam Gambhir took him away. Following a stare by Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir was seen shouting at him before charging at his teammate. This followed another heated conversation between the two before other players came in and tried to diffuse the situation after separating them.

RCB managed to score a total of 126 for 9 batting first and thereafter managed to restrict LSG to 108 runs.
