Buttler doubtful as Rajasthan Royals face Delhi Capitals, Riyan to play 50th IPL match

GUWAHATI: Although an official announcement is yet to be made, it is likely that Rajasthan Royals to miss the service of star batter Jos Buttler for their next IPL game against Delhi Capitals here on Saturday. The match will kick off at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara on 3-30 PM.

Butler was injured during the side’s first home game against Punjab Kings which was held at the same venue on Wednesday. The cricketer injured his finger while grabbing Shahrukh Khan’s catch in that game.

Interacting with the media in the pre match press conference Kumar Sangakkara, Director of Cricket Affairs of Rajasthan Royals, said, “We are waiting for the fitness certificate of Butler from our medical team. Once we get the reports, we will take decision on this regard,”

Rajasthan Royals lost their last game by a very narrow margin and many felt that it was batting order that cost the game for the Royals. The critics even said that Hetmyer, a key batter of the team, should get more balls to face.

However Sangakkara defended the decision to send Hetmyer late in the order. “Hetmyer has a very specific role and he is happy to do that. He almost won the game from a very difficult position. We have to keep believing in our strategies and be disciplined,” said Sangakkara.

Local boy Riyan Parag will touch a milestone tomorrow when he comes out to play the game. It would be 50th IPL match of his career. The batter, make debut in IPL in 2019, played 49 matches till date, and scored 549 in 39 innings. There are also two half centuries in his name and took 34 catches.
