Gauhati Press Club lift Media Cricket title

GUWAHATI: Gauhati Press Club (GPC) annexed the Inter-Media T20 Cricket Tournament title defeating Media Management by 11 runs in the final held at the Nehru Stadium today. Electing to bat first, Gauhati Press Club scored 138 for five in the 20 overs and Media Management were restricted to 127 for seven.

While Robin Das of the winning side was adjudged the man of the final, Raj Hussain of Media Management was named the man of the tournament. Mriganka Sarma of Gauhati Press Club, Govind Singh of Media Management and Azad Gogoi of host Assam Sports Journalists Association were adjudged best batsman, bowler and fielder of the tournament.

The Closing Ceremony of the Inter Media Cricket and North East Media Sports Festival, organized by Assam Sports Journalists Association, held jointly at the Nehru Stadium and was graced by former international athlete Tayabun Nisha, President (Sales and Marketing) of Meghalaya Cements Ltd Dr Anil Kapoor, Foreigners Tribunal Member and former bureaucrat Rajib Prakash Baruah, entrepreneur Rajeev Saikia and veteran sports journalist and former President of ASJA Pabitra Gogoi as distinguished guests.
