Guwahati: Gauhati Pres Club (GPC) entered into the final of the TOPCEM-ASJA Inter Media Cricket Championship defeating Assam Sports Journalists' Association (ASJA) by 41 runs in the third group League match held at the Nehru Stadium here today. It was the second consecutive victories for Gauhati Press Club in the competition.
Elected to bat Gauhati Press Club, rode on two good knocks from Mriganka Sarma (69) and Abuddin Khan (51) posted 158-4 in 20 overs. ASJA managed to score 117-9 in their 20 overs. Nova Gohain (37) was the top scorer. After bat, Abuddin Khan also performed well with the ball and picked up 3-11. Binoy Kalita and Tanmoy Dey collected two wickets each.
Meanwhile in the other game of the day Media Management kept their hope alive to reach into the final defeating Prasar Bharati by a huge margin of 73 runs. While Raj Hussain (53no) was the top scorer, Sourav Nath (49) and Biswajit Deka (39) also contributed well with the bat for Media Management. Gautam Sarma (30) fought lone battle for Prasar Bharati. Govinda Sinha (4-20) played a crucial role on Media Management's victory with ball.
