NE Has Enormous Potential In Sports, BCCI Will Keep No Stone Unturned To Tap Talent: Jay Shah

BCCI secretary Jay Shah on the NCA camp for the Northeast and Plate teams said that the region has enormous potential in sports and the board will keep no stone unturned to tap the best talent.

GUWAHATI: The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) Secretary Jay Shah took to Twitter to praise the NCA (National Cricket Academy) Camp for the Northeastern states and Plate teams in Bengaluru.

He said that the initiative will provide equal opportunities to young and budding talents to represent India in all formats.

In the tweet, the BCCI secretary said that the northeastern region has enormous potential in the sector of sports and the board will keep no stone unturned to tap the best talent for India.

Earlier, in the previous week, the BCCI made the announcement that the National Cricket Academy has started its calendar with the camp for the NE region and plate teams in Bengaluru.

The NCA camp for northeast and plate teams is organized under the guidance of Indian batter and present NCA chief VVS Laxman who will be interacting with the selected players.

The camp will also have well-known couches including the spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule, fast bowling coach Troy Cooley and batting coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar the U-19 World Cup-winning coach.

For the training camp, 150 cricketers have been selected based on their performances in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy, 25 from each of the 6 zones including northeast and other new areas.

Through this initiative, the cricket body in India ensures that the players from northeast states of Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim get the best training from the best coaches with infrastructure facilities.

The players include 9 pacers from each of the 6 zones and the objective will be made to increase the poll of fast bowlers.

Taking to Twitter the board informed that this week the camp is in full swing and working on providing the best skills to the cricketers.

It added the lads are making the most of the opportunity and getting better at the finer skills of the game.
