GUWAHATI: Assam suffered a huge 8 wickets defeat against Railway in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 cricket at Rajkot today. Chasing 135 runs to win Railways reached the target in 18.5 overs losing two wickets. Opener Shivam Chaudhary (62) scored an unbeaten half century and his opening partner Pratham Singh contributed 38 runs on the board.

Earlier, Assam scored 134-5 in their 20 overs, thanks to an unbeaten knock from Riyan Parag (49) and a good supportive role from Rishav Das (35). The side were once struggling losing four wickets for just 43 runs. Both the openers Nihar Narah (7) and Rahul Hazarika (12) failed to contribute big scores and they were quickly followed by Subham Mandal (15) and Abhishek Thakuri (0). However Assam reached a respectable total only for Riyan and Rishav. The duo on the fifth wicket partnership added 78 runs from 60 balls. Riyan took 37 balls to score 49 not out with the help of two boundaries and three over boundaries. Rishav contributed 35 from 32 balls and there were one boundary and two sixes in his innings.

It was the third defeat for Assam in five matches and they are now placed at seventh position in the points table with 8 points. The side registered two victories in the competition and those victories came against Uttarakhand and Mizoram respectively.
