Ranji Trophy: Assam to face Maharashtra from today

GUWAHATI: Assam will take on Maharashtra in their next Elite 'B' Ranji Trophy game from tomorrow. The match will be held in Pune.

It will be the fourth game for Assam in the season. The team, led by Kunal Saikia, made good progress in the competition and elevated their performance one match after another. In their previous three games Assam drew against Saurashtra (Saurashtra took first innings lead) and Delhi (Assam took first innings lead), and then won against Hyderabad. They have altogether collected 10 points and are placed at the fourth place in the points table.

Meanwhile Maharashtra, at the second place in the points table, also doing well in the competition and collected 13 points from their previous three outings. In their last game the side won against Andhra by 131 runs although it was a low scoring game.

Maharashtra also dominated during their last five meetings against Assam in the Ranji Trophy. The side registered four wins and the other game ended as a draw.
