GUWAHATI: Displaying an all-round performance Riyan Parag guided Assam to a narrow 5-run victory against Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket held in Mumbai today. Riyan (61), knocking the door of senior national team, first scored a half century and later picked up two crucial wickets.

Assam openers Rishav Das (32) and Pradyum Saikia (20) gave good start after they were invited to bat first. The duo in the opening partnership added 59 runs in 41 balls. Riyan then smashed the opponent bowlers in frequent intervals and scored runs at a very rapid pace. The batter took just 34 balls to score 61 and there were four boundaries and five huge sixes in his innings. Pallav Kumar Das remained not out on 29.

In reply, Bihar chased well but fell short for five runs. Opener Bipin Saurabh (85) and Sakibul Gani (65), who came to bat at number three, scored half centuries and one time it looked like they were taking the match away from Assam. The duo added 137 runs on the second wicket partnership. However Riyan broke the partnership removing Sakibul on Bihar’s total 155 and brought Assam back into the game. Riyan also took the wicket of Bipin Saurabh.
