Riyan Parag, Sourav guide Assam to easy victory

Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag once again came out with flying colours in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Cricket tournament and helped Assam to register an easy victory over Services in Mumbai on Thursday.

GUWAHATI: Assam all-rounder Riyan Parag once again came out with flying colours in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Cricket tournament and helped Assam to register an easy victory over Services in Mumbai on Thursday. Assam won the game by 8 wickets and Riyan’s contribution was 3-9 and 76 not out. He got good support from Sourav Dey who collected 4 wickets for 20 runs.

Assam won the toss and invited Services to bat first. The opening pair between Rajat Paliwal (39) and Shubham Rohilla (17) gave a good start and they added 56 runs in six overs. Assam came back into the game once Avinov Choudhury removed opener Rohilla. Services thereafter lost wickets on regular intervals and were bowled out 124 in 19.4 overs. Sourav Dey bagged 4-20 in 3.4 overs. Riyan completed his four overs quota and picked up 3 wickets giving away only 9 runs..

Chasing 125 to win in 20 overs Assam lost 2 quick wickets for just 19. But once Riyan took the charge the victory was just a matter of time. The batter faced 37 balls to score unbeaten 76 with the help of eight boundaries and five sixes. Opener Rishav Das (41 no, 31 balls, 4X6) gave him good support and the duo on the third wicket added unbeaten 109 runs facing 10 overs.
