Silchar to face Biswanath Chariali in final of Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket

Guwahati: Silchar will take on Biswanth Chariali in the final of the Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket here from June 30. The four-day final will be held at the ACA Stadium, Barsapara in the city.

Silchar entered into the final by virtue of the first innings lead against Tezpur after the game between the two sides ended as a draw at the ACA stadium, Barsapara here today. In the other last-four game at the Nehru Stadium, Biswanth Chariali defeated Dibrugarh by 15 runs.

Silchar required 117 runs to win after they bowled out Tezpur 281 in the second innings today. Rahul Singh performed well with the ball and picked up 6-80. Second innings of Tezpur witnessed two good knocks from Sidharth Sarma and Jugen Das. Sidharth contributed 81 runs with the help of 12 boundaries. Jugen narrowly missed a century as the batter lost all his partner and remained not out on 97 when Tezpur's second innings came to an end.

Two openers of Silchar made a solid start in the second innings and the side were 76-0 when the match came to an end. Subham Mondal remained not out 32 and Pradip Sarkar (30) was giving him support.

Meanwhile at the Nehru stadium, Dibrugarh chasing 151 runs to win were bowled out 135 runs in the second innings. Gunjanjyoti Deka (42) and Mukhtar Hussain (41) were the major contributors. Among the bowlers of Biswanath Chariali, Mintu Kumar Roy and Siddhartha Shankar Baruah picked up two wickets each.
