Suryakumar’s maiden IPL ton powers Mumbai Indians to beat Gujarat Titans

MUMBAI: Suryakumar Yadav's maiden IPL century powered Mumbai Indians to beat table-topper Gujarat Titans by 27 runs in Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium, here on Friday.

Invited to bat first, Mumbai Indians scored 218 runs in allotted overs losing 5 wickets. In reply in-form Gujarat Titans could score 191 runs losing 8 wickets.

Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan set the tone early on with their aggressive approach. But Rashid threatened to steal the game by sending both the opener back in the same over and soon completed his four-wicket haul (4/30).

But Surya had his own plans as he made sure to remain at the till the very last ball and took MI to a commanding position with an unbeaten 103 off just 49 balls, laced with 11 boundaries and six maximums.

Gujarat Titans’ lost wickets in regular intervels. At one stage, they lost 8th wicket when the score was 103 in 13.2 overs. David Miller hit 41 runs off 26 balls. Later Rashid Khan played an unbeaten attacking knock of 79 from 32 balls with 10 sixes. Akash Madhwal claimed 3 wickets for 31.
