SYDNEY: India defeated the Netherlands by 56 runs after scoring 179/2 in the T20 World Cup match at the SCG in Sydney, Australia on Thursday.

India chose to bat and put on a strong batting performance with dazzling fifty-plus scores from Suryakumar Yadav (51 not out), Virat Kohli (62 not out), and Rohit Sharma (53). In reply, the Netherlands could score 123/9 in their stipulated 20 overs.

The Netherlands' last pair scored 22 exciting runs off the match's final two overs when Paul van Meekeren joyfully clubbed the final ball to the straight boundary, making it three straight fours off Arshdeep Singh. Even though the pursuit was entering its fourth innings of the day on a slow, joyless Sydney wicket, the Dutch were already down in a blaze of hits.

Being an extremely cunning bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar may be a nightmare for someone who hasn't faced him before. Batting in an eight-ball over against Bhuvneshwar, the young Netherlands opener Vikramjit Singh faced a torturous existence.

Meanwhile, Kohli began yet another superb inning cautiously before accelerating as he led India to 144/2 after 16 overs.

The Netherlands' skipper, Scott Edwards, claimed that the surrounding noise made things a little more challenging, adding that they put in a strong performance despite coming here to win. Scott concluded by stating that it is challenging to contain the batsmen (Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav) when they bat in that way and that a total of more than 180 was always going to be challenging. He also stated that he is anticipating the game against Pakistan and it just keeps getting better. He also expresses hope for a stronger showing.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar also gave India a head start by taking an early wicket and delivering back-to-back maidens in his opening spell. After that, Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin worked together to create a web around the Dutch. Additionally joining the group and taking wickets were Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh. Overall, Rohit Sharma will be happy with his team's disciplined bowling performance in this match, and India may even consider it a flawless game.
