NEW DELHI: Indian skipper Mithali Raj broke a new record by becoming the most appeared captain in ICC (International Cricket Council) women's world cup.

On Saturday 12 March, the cricketer broke the record for most matches captained in the tournaments of the Women's World Cup.

Mithali Raj has made a stunning captaincy record by making history in the match of India vs West Indies.

Notably, 39 years old Mithali Raj has represented India in a total of 34 world cup matches among which she gained victory from 14 matches and lost in 8 matches

She had made the most of her appearances in the role of captain and with the 3rd round of the present match against West Indies in Hamilton the cricketer is leading the country for the 24th time.

With this recent success, Mithali has exceeded the earlier record by Australian player Belinda Clark who captained a total of 23 games.

Mithali has made it to a great record by stepping out to lead the India team in a tough match against the West Indies currently going at the Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Something most interesting is that Clark and Mithali are the only two players who played as captain of their country's team at more than 2 World Cups.

On Sunday of the previous week, the Indian captain becomes the first woman and 3rd cricketer to take part in the 6 World Cups by joining the most renowned players Sachin Tendulkar and Javed Miandad from Pakistan.

Mithali is an occasional right-arm leg break bowler and a right-handed upper middle-order batter who is known for both batting and bowling skills.

In the ongoing match between India and West Indies, India has lost one match and gained victory from one and the record maker Mithali is hoping to hold the record with a victory over the West Indies.

Mithali has successfully registered 31 runs off 56 balls with the team that defeated Pakistan in their match opener but faced a heavy loss by 62 runs in the second game with New Zealand.
