Financial assistance from ACA to Phukan

GUWAHATI: A team of Assam Cricket Association on Thursday visited former Ranji cricketer and veteran footballer Pradip Phukan at his residence to assess his well-being and handed over Rs 1 lakh for his medical treatment. Phukan, popularly known as ‘Tikori,’ had a splendid career in football and cricket during the 1960s and 1970s. He represented the Assam team in both Ranji Trophy and Santosh Trophy achieving some stellar performances. The Assam Cricket Association today also announced a monthly pension of Rs 15,000 for Phukan. Several key officials of ACA including vice president Rajdeep Oja, joint secretary Rajendra Singh, CEO Pritam Mahanta along with joint secretary of BCCI Devajit Saikia and former cricketer Sankar Dutta Lahkar were present at Phukna’s house at the time of handing over the financial assistance.
