RIYADH: One of the most famous active football players, Cristiano Ronaldo has signed for the Al Nassr club in Saudi Arabia. The announcement came from the club on Friday and the deal is supposed to be worth more than 200 million euros.

The 37-year-old has signed the contract which will be valid till June 2025 and he expressed his excitement about playing in a new football league in a different country. A picture of the Portuguese star with a blue and yellow shirt of Al Nassr with the number seven printed was posted by the club on its Twitter handle.

The Al Nassr club has already won nine Saudi Arabian league titles to date with the last win in 2019 and they are looking to change that with the inclusion of Ronaldo.

"This is more than history in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @cristiano to your new home @alnassr_fc," came a tweet from the official handle of Al Nassr on Friday.

This change comes as no surprise to many of his supporters following his distancing and subsequently leaving Manchester United. The whole incident unfolded after the player gave an interview mentioning how he felt betrayed by the popular club. The club terminated the contract while Cristiano Ronaldo was busy playing for his country Portugal in the recently concluded FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

The team started well in the tournament but was forced out by Morracco with Ronaldo on the bench. Being one of the highest-paid football players of all time, he was reportedly paid 31 million euros by Juventus. But there is a doubt in the numbers as the club is being investigated for underreporting the salaries of its players.

Cristiano Ronaldo has five Champions League titles, 2 league titles in Italy with Juventus, 2 in Spain with Real Madrid and 3 in England with Manchester United.
