Junior Women's National Football Championship begins with Bihar's big win against Meghalaya

Earlier at the same venue Delhi defeated Telengana by 3-0. Ruchi, Preeti and Diva Dubey scored one goal in the match.

GUWAHATI: Bihar thrashed Meghalaya by 15-1 in the Junior Women's National Football Championship tie held at the SAI Sports Complex here today. The winner scored seven goals in the first half and 8 more in the second.

The match turned out a one sided affair from the very beginning as Bihar raided one after another towards Meghalay's goal. The side finally opened the account in 16 minutes though Lucky Kumari. Lucky scored three more goals in the match. However Sabana Khatun and Sruti Kumari were in superb form and scored more goals than Lucky, five each. The other goal was scored by Nisha Kumari. Meghalaya reduced one through Makrisha Songthiang in the 49th minute.

Earlier at the same venue Delhi defeated Telengana by 3-0. Ruchi, Preeti and Diva Dubey scored one goal in the match.

At LNIPE, Maharashtra registered a 6-0 win over Tripura. Sumaiyya Shaikh (3), Purva Gaikwad, Ritika Singh and Arati Sanjay Katkar scored for Maharashtra in the game. In the last game of the day held at the same venue Odisha won 3-1 against Chandigarh. While Suhasini Mahakul, Manisha Behra and M Roshni scored one goal each for Odisha, Parul returned one for Chandigarh.

Earlier the competition was inaugurated by Queen Oja, MP, Guwahati, in a brief function held at the Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium here today. The inaugural function was also attended by president and secretary of the Assam Football Association Naba Kumar Doley and Hemen Brahma, secretary of the Assam Olympic Association Lakhya Konwar, the Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare Nibedan Das Patowary and owner of Shillong Lajong Club Larsing Ming.
