Guwahati: 1st Guwahati International Open Grandmasters Chess Championship got under way at the Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium here today. The competition was inaugurated by Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Bimal Borah. Altogether 255 players from India and abroad are participating in the meet which will be concluded on March 20. Assam Chess Association is hosting the event.
