GUWAHATI: The 4th CPPA Open International FIDE Rating Chess Tournament got underway at Duliajan today.
The meet is organized by Chess players' Parents Association (CPPA), Duliajan. Altogether 118 players from West Bengal, Bihar, Delhi, Manipur, Tripura, Assam and a player from Canada are taking part in the championship. Executive Director,OIL J P P Das attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest. The other dignitaries present in the opening ceremony were Executive Director-OIL & President of the organizing committee S P Deka, President of CPPA and DGM-OIL Atikur Zaman and General Secretary of CPPA and Chief Engineer-OIL Wasim Saikia.
The tournament carries a total prize money of Rs 2.5 lakh.
