GUWAHATI: Assam is all set to get another Arjuna Awardee and this time in the form of boxer Lovlina Borgohain. The boxer is among 29 athletes recommended for this year's Arjuna Awards by the Sports Ministry's selection committee. The formal announcement will come after Sports Ministry gives approval on this recommendation.

Earlier five sportspersons from the State received these prestigious awards. Bhogeswar Baruah, legendary athlete and 800mts gold medalist in 1966 Asiad, is top of the list. The other recipients are Monalisa Baruah Mehta, Jayanta Talukdar, Shiva Thapa and Hima Das.

Reacting on the news the secretary of the association Hemanta Kalita said, "It's great news for us. Hope Sports Ministry will give formal approval on the list and we will get second Arjuna Awardees in boxing from the State."
