GUWAHATI: The 46th edition of All Assam Inter District (Under 19 ) FIDE Rating Chess Championship 2023 in memory of Late Debendra Nath Sarma got underway at South Point School, Barsapara here today. The tournament was inaugurated by Krishnanjan Chanda, principal South Point School in the presence of Kandarpa Kalita (President), Rajib Dhar (Secretary), Madhab Sarma (Treasurer) of All Assam Chess Association along with host of other officials and guests. Altogether 86 players including 37 FIDE rated players from Kamrup Metro, Kamrup, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Sonitpur, Darrang, Morigaon, Nalbari and Nagaon district are participating in the three-day event.
Altogether 7 rounds under Swiss league system will be played in this tournament from which the top 4 players in the Boys and Girls category will be selected to participate in the National Junior Chess Championship 2023 which will be held in Ahmedabad from September 20.
