GUWAHATI: Andhra Pradesh took the driver's seat against Assam on day 1 of Ranji Trophy group match at Dr PVG Raju ACA Sports Complex in Vizianagram on Tuesday. Electing to bat first, Assam were bundled out for 113 runs in 37.5 overs in their first innings. In reply, Andhra were 160 in 47 overs losing 3 wickets at stumps.

Rishav Das and Subham Mandal scored 30 runs and 21 runs respectively. M Rayudu claimed 4 wickets for 12 while KV Sasikant took 3 wickets.

Andhra started well in their first innings. Test start Hanuma Vihari struck 80 while Abhishek Reddy added 75 runs. Sarupam Purkayastha, Hridip Deka and Mukhatar Hussain took one wicket each.
