ITANAGAR: Three Wushu players from the Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA) in Itanagar have achieved a significant milestone by securing their spots to represent India at the highly esteemed Asian Games in 2023.
The three accomplished athletes from SLSA who will proudly don the Indian colors at the Asian Games are Mepung Lamgu and Onilu Tega, both set to compete in the women's taijiquan category, while Nyeman Wangsu will represent India in the women's Changquan category.
These promising young athletes have meticulously honed their abilities under the expert guidance and rigorous training provided by SLSA's Wushu coach, Maibam Premchandra. The selection of these athletes for the Indian Wushu Team has been met with praise from Tadar Appa, the Director of Sports, who acknowledged their extraordinary talents and commitment to the sport.
He expressed immense pride not only for the academy but also for the entire state and the nation as a whole. Appa confidently asserted that he believes the trio will make India proud with their exceptional performances on the global stage.
Likha Vidha, the principal of SLSA, extended his warmest wishes to the athletes and conveyed his confidence in their ability to perform admirably, serving as an inspiration to other aspiring athletes. The coaches, teachers, and staff at SLSA also expressed their heartfelt support and best wishes for these three athletes.
The departure for Hangzhou is set for September 20, as the athletes will leave from New Delhi to join the Indian contingent.
