Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) mourns death of Sacheti

Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) has mourned the death of Raj Kumar Sacheti, Executive Director of Boxing Federation of India, who passed away this morning in New Delhi. He was admitted to a nursing home where the sport administrator was battling COVID-19. Later he suffered a cardiac arrest.

GUWAHATI: Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) has mourned the death of Raj Kumar Sacheti, Executive Director of Boxing Federation of India, who passed away this morning in New Delhi. He was admitted to a nursing home where the sport administrator was battling COVID-19. Later he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The secretary of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association Hemanta Kumar Kalita, who is also the Secretary General of the Boxing Federation of India, said, "He has been instrumental in turning around the face of Indian boxing and taking it to the greatest height. We will miss him dearly."

There were several occasions when Sacheti visited Guwahati when the city hosted different international events. He was also the GTCC Chairman of Meghalaya National Games.

Recalling Sacheti's visit to Guwahati in connection with the international events Kalita said, "His organizing capacity was superb. We didn't face any problems to host various international meets in Guwahati only because of him. He always stayed away from the spotlight and contributed silently towards the promotion of the game."
