GUWAHATI: Assam Amateur Boxing Association (AABA) will organize online class for the officials to keep them in touch with the rules and regulations. The coaches, referees, judges and other officials of the Northeast and Bengal can take part in it which will begin on Wednesday.

The Secretary of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association Hemanta Kalita today informed The Sentinel, "Due to lockdown, imposed to combat COVID-19, the activities of boxing have stopped. Like the boxers, the officials of the game are also not in touch with the games for a long period. However the situation has now started to become normal. If it is continued then process to start competition will also begin. So we feel this type of class is now necessary for the officials to get refresh before the start of the new season."

Kalita added: "The boxing Federation of India and Sports Authority of India have given necessary permission to us to organize this class. The Boxing Federation of India also appointed chief national coach Santiago Nieva to take the class. Former international boxer and arjuna awardee Jas Lal Pradhan too will share his experience with the participants.

Commenting on the participants the secretary of the Assam Amateur Boxing Association said, "The coaches and officials of entire northeast states can take part in it. We are also allowing the officials of Bengal to join it.

Regarding the resumption of training of the boxers Kalita said, "We are waiting for the necessary directives from the government as well as our federation. Once we receive it we will chalk out our plan. "
