GUWAHATI: The 2nd Annual Award Function of Assam Cricket Association followed by the Curtain Raiser for the Assam T-20 Challengers Trophy, 2021 was successfully held on Wednesday evening at the Gauhati Town Club Auditorium in the gracious presence of a host of dignitaries and guests.
The event was graced by Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Department Bimal Borah as its Chief Guest and was attended by the office-bearers of ACA, representative of TCM Carlton Saldanha, former cricketers and other well-wishers.
On the occasion, in view of the truncated nature of the last cricketing season due to the threat induced by COVID-19, only two players could be rewarded based on their excellent performances during the last cricketing season. The first to be feted was Pritam Das for claiming 5 wickets in an innings in Vijay Hazare Trophy and the other one was Sibsankar Roy for his century in Vijay Hazare Trophy.
During the event, the Champions and the Runners-Up of the Zonal level and the District Champions of the 3rd Assam Premier Club Championship 2020-21 were also rewarded.
The event also served as an occasion to unveil the trophy, logos and jerseys of the forthcoming Assam T20 Challengers Trophy by Bimal Bora. This is stated in a release.
