Assam dominate in 2nd North East Olympic Games in Shillong

Assam dominated Day II in the 2nd North East Olympic Games in Shillong on Friday.

GUWAHATI: Assam dominated Day II in the 2nd North East Olympic Games in Shillong on Friday.

Assam bagged 12 medals and 11 of them came in swimming and other one in Taekwondo. Among them 6 medals are gold while 4 are silver. The performance also helped Assam to stay at the top of the medal tally.

In boxing Assam also confirmed five medals after five of their boxers entered into the semi finals.

In the basketball Assam men's team thrashed Tripura 144-68 but the women's team lost to Manipur by 22-52.

Medal winners:

Swimming : Women- 100m Freestyle: Jahnabi Kashyap (gold, 1:01:51sec). Darshita Barua (silver, 1:06:96 sec ).

100m Backstroke: Krishnali Doley (gold, 1:15:59 sec), Adriza Rani Chetia (bronze, 1:24:79 sec), 50m Breaststroke -Disha Gogoi: (gold, 37:38sec), Nivriti Chetia Datta (silver, 39:34 sec). 4X50m Freestyle Relay Team (Gold , 2:5:25sec. Jahnabi Kashyap, Nivriti Cherian Datta, Darshita Barua, Krishnali Doley).

Men- 100m Freestyle: Dishant Buragohain ( gold, 56:16 sec), Anshuman Kashyap (silver, 56:66sec).

50m Breaststroke Bronze-Mriganga Gogoi (bronze, 32:51sec). 4X50m Freestyle Relay Team (gold, Manash Pratim Baishya, Anshuman Kashyap Nibir Hazarika and Jananjoy Jyoti Hazarika).

Taekwondo- Nishant Singh Hazari (Silver, Poomsae, Individual jr boys).
