Assam end campaign with defeat

Assam ended their campaign in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket tournament with a defeat against Odisha in Kolkata today. Odisha won the game by 4 wickets.

Guwahati: Assam ended their campaign in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Cricket tournament with a defeat against Odisha in Kolkata today. Odisha won the game by four wickets.

Elected to bat, Assam scored 148-5 in their 20 overs. RiyanParag played another good innings and contributed 42 from 26 balls with the help of three boundaries and two sixes. Assam top order also did well in the match. Opener Pallav Kumar Das (21) and DenishDas(19), who brought into the opening spot in place of Rishav Das, gave good start scoring 37 in 5.1 overs. Later Sahil Jain (24) and Rajjakuddin (32) also contributed well that helped Assam to put fighting total on the board.

Chasing 149 runs to win Odisha lost wicket on regular interval but SubrangshuSenapati, who came into bat at number three position, ensured team's victory with a brilliant knock of 64 runs (48 balls, 4x4, 6x3). Among the bowlers of Assam Pritam Das and RiyanParag picked up two wickets each.

Assam bagged eight points from their five outings while Odisha finished with four points from same number of games.
