GUWAHATI: Assam Regimental Centre (ARC), Shillong beat Gauhati Town Club 2-1 in the 66th Bordoloi Trophy and became the first team to book a berth in the semi final from group ‘B’.
In another game at the Nehru stadium here today OILFC inched closer to earn semi final berth thrashing Daimalu Club by 6-1.
The match between OILFC and Daimalu Club in group ‘A’ was totally one sided affair. The winner took just 27 seconds, one of the fastest goals in the history of Bordoloi Trophy, to take lead through Milan Basumatary. Later Sirandeep Moran (3) and William Gangte (2) increased the margin. Gangte’s goal came in 15 and 54 minutes while Sirandeep scored his three goals in 33, 59 and 60 minutes.
Daimalu got their lone goal very early stage of the match. The side was awarded a penalty in the 3rd minutes and Tingku Baglari converted the spot kick into goal.
Meanwhile Gauhati Town Club today lost a good opportunity to make a huge upset in the competition. The side, led till the 90 minutes by a solitary goal, conceded two goals in the injury time and lost the tie by 1-2. Pulak Barua put ahead Gauhati Town club in the 27th minutes. L Robert scored both the goals for Assam Regimental Centre once the match entered into the injury time. With this victory Assam Regimental Centre collected six points and they are now top of the points table.
