Assam Youth Olympics: Closing ceremony at Sankaradeva Kalakshetra

The closing ceremony of the Assam Youth Olympics (AYO) will be held at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati.

Guwahati: The closing ceremony of the Assam Youth Olympics (AYO) will be held at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, in the city tomorrow. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the Chief Guest at the function. The closing ceremony will also be attended by Union Minister of Ports etc Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports etc Anurag Singh Thakur.

Although Indira Gandhi Athletics stadium was in the initial plan for the closing ceremony of the competition but due to weather forecast and possibility of heavy rain the organizers have decided to organize the event at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, and it will begin at 6 pm.

Meanwhile, several medals in various events including athletics, swimming, shooting and others were decided on the penultimate day of the competition. Guwahati maintained their lead at the medals tally at the end of day V. Guwahati won 111 medals which included 35 Gold, 38 Silver and 38 Bronze medals. Kamrup in second position with 39 medals including 14 Gold, 9 Silver and 16 Bronze. Tinsukia retained the third spot with 20 medals (11 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze). Jorhat moved up to fourth in the medal tally with a haul of 27 medals.
