GUWAHATI: Manipur, Sikkim, Bangladesh and Meghalaya won their respective matches in the 2nd T Ao North East International Gold Cup Soccer Championship held in two different venues in the city on Wednesday.
In the first game at SAI Sports complex, Manipur thrashed Nagaland 4-0. H Imungo, David, Songpu Singh and CH Zangmin scored for Manipur in the game. In another match at the same venue, held under floodlight, the Bangladesh side made a winning start defeating Bhutan 2-0. Both the goals were scored by Shakib Bepari.
Meanwhile, at LNIPE, near Sonapur, Meghalaya earned a hard fought victory over All Nepal Football Academy 3-2. Robert Khongjoh, Shaibor Nongrum and Figo Syndai were the scorers for Meghalaya while Rejim Subba and Prezen Tamang reduced the margin for the Nepal outfit.
Sikkim earned full points against Arunachal Pradesh beating them 3-1 in the second game of the day in the same venue. Sangdhy Chopal Bhutia (2) and Prashant Chetri (1) scored for the winners while N Imunganba Meitei returned one for Arunachal Pradesh.
