GUWAHATI: Sports journalism in Assam has completed 99 years today and is set to step into the 100th year on Saturday which coincides with the Annual World Sports Journalists Day.
The celebrations were supposed to be kicked off from Saturday. However, the Assam Sports Journalists Association deferred the inaugural ceremony by a week due to unprecedented devastating floods in the State and has opted to mark the day symbolically on Saturday at the RG Baruah Sports Complex..
Family members of some of the pioneer sports journalists of Assam will also present on the occasion and accept honours (posthumous) on behalf of some of the outstanding sports journalists who had made Assam's sports journalism invaluable.
