CM Himanta Biswa Sarma unveils Khel Maharan’s logo, jersey

The first edition of Khel Maharan, a sports event which is designed to promote sports talents of the State, will kick off on November 1 and will continue till January 10 next year.

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today unveiled the logo, mascot, jersey and theme songs of the forthcoming Khel Maharan. The event was held at the CM Conference Hall which was also attended by the Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Gorlosa.

The first edition of Khel Maharan, a sports event which is designed to promote sports talents of the State, will kick off on November 1 and will continue till January 10 next year. The competition will be held in five disciplines which are: Athletics, Football, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Kho Kho. Already 6 lakh athletes have registered their name for various disciplines and it is expected that the figure will reach 12 lakh.

In a brief speech Sarma said that Khel Maharan would serve as a significant platform for talent identification while engaging the youth in positive and constructive activities.

The Chief Minister also introduced the mascot of Khel Maharan- Maharaj Dodan. Maharaj Dodan is believed to be the forefather of the Rabha Tribe, a nephew of Maharaja Bana and related to Devi Usha as mentioned in the Mahabharata.
