COVID-19: Sports bodies continue to contribute Relief fund

GUWAHATI: As a part of their contribution towards the fight against COVID-19 the Assam Football Association and All Assam Football Referee Welfare Association handed over Rs 50,000 and Rs 70,000 respectively to Chief Minister's Relief fund here today. Officials of both the organization, including the president of the Assam Football Association Naba Kumar Doley, met Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the Administrative Staff College and handed over both the cheques.

The president of the All Assam Football Referee Welfare Association Dipak Dey, who is also the vice president of the Assam Football Association (Head of the referee) informed The Sentinel, "On the basis of our appeal soccer referees across the State contributed according to their capacity and we handed over the total amount in Chief Minister's Relief Fund today. On the other hand the Assam Football Association has donated Rs 50,000 separately to the same fund."

The other officials of the Assam Football Association accompanied Doley and Dey were Treasurer Hiren Gogoi and Assistant Secretary Atul Bora.
