GUWAHATI: Chess Players’ Parents Association, Duliajan will organize the 4th CPPA OIL Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament from December 12 -17 at Bihutoli, Duliajan. The total prize money for the tournament is Rs. 3.61 lakh.
Altogether 150 to 200 players across India, including Grand Masters (GMs) and International Masters (IMs) are expected to take part in this edition of the tournament. This chess tournament will provide a platform for budding players from Assam to compete with leading players of the country including a few players of international repute. International arbiter Debasish Barua will officiate in the tournament as Chief Arbiter. In order to organize the event in a smooth manner, a committee has been formed with Ashit Kumar Barua, Chief General Manager (OIL) as President, Atikur Zaman (Deputy General Manager-OIL) as Working President and Wasim Saikia (Deputy Chief Engineer-OIL) as Chief Secretary.
