GUWAHATI: Daimalu FC and OILFC earned full points in the 67th Bordoloi Trophy Football Championship defeating their respective opponents on Friday.
Daimalu FC of Udalguri defeated Eleven Star Club of Bongaigaon by a solitary goal at the Judges field in the city. OILFC also won their tie by identical margin at Morigaon against Bodousa SC.
All four teams started their campaign in the championship today. At the Judges Field good contest was seen between Daimalu and Eleven star. Although Eleven start today lost the game but they really caught the eyes of crowd with their brilliant one touch football.
After the barren first half Daimalu made a couple of good raids to their opponent goal and came close to score atleast three to four times. Finally they succeeded at the 70th minutes of the game and the entire credit of the goal should go to Situ Basumatari. His side was awarded a free kick and Situ nicely converted it into goal from a distance of nearly 24 yards with a powerfull shot. Situ almost scored another goal in the dying stage of the game but this time the ball hit the bar.
Meanwhile at Morigaon OILFC made good start in the game and took the lead in 8 minutes through Tulya. However the match failed to produce any more goal in the remaining period of the contest.
Tomorrow's match: Guwahati- Daimalu FC vs Gauhati Town Club. Morigaon-Assam Police Blues vs Bodousa SC.
