Guwahati: Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare (DSYW), Assam today felicitated Everester Hedayet Ali who recently conquered Everest. The function was held at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium which was attended by Ali along with Nibedan Das Patowary, the Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare and a few key officials of the department. In a brief speech Patowary today said that Ali would receive a grant in aid as per the government norm for his achievement.
It may be mentioned here that Ali, in his second attempt, recently climbed Everest, the highest peak of the world. Ali also spoke a few words in the function where he described his preparation and journey to climb the Everest.
