Jorhat: Assam Boy Chandogya Tridive Pathak Clinches Double Crown In AITA SS U-14 Tennis Tournament

GUWAHATI: In a proud moment for the state, Assam lad Chandogya Tridive Pathak claimed glory by clinching double crown in the Boys event of the AITA SS U-14 Tennis Tournament that concluded at Jorhat Tennis Club on Friday.

In the Boys Under 14 Year singles event, Assam boy Chandogya got the better of 6th seeded Ayaan Shankar from Tamil Nadu 4-1 (Concede).

As far as the Boys Under 14 Year doubles event is concerned, Chandogya, partnering with Rishab Kumar Prasad from West Bengal cruised past the West Bengal duo of Syed Faizaan Hussain and Swapneel Ghosh in a comfortable 6-0, 6-3 win.

On the other hand, Karnataka girl Padmapriya Rameshkumar edged past Jahnavi Tammineedhi, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, in a straight set 6-1, 7-6 (4) encounter in the Girls Under 14 Year Singles event.

In the Girls Under 14 Year Doubles, the Assam duo of Anskriti Saurav Borah and Arisha Mahin Choudhury defeated Padmapriya Rameshkumar of Karnataka and Jahnavi Tammineedhi in a nail-biting 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 encounter.        

A brief closing ceremony was held after the conclusion of the matches at the Jorhat Tennis Club and one minute of silence was observed to condole the death of Dr. Shankar Jyoti Parashar, a renowned doctor and active member of Jorhat Tennis Club.

Notably, the All India Tennis Association (AITA) is the governing body of tennis in India. It was established in 1920 and affiliated by International Tennis Federation and Asian Tennis Federation.

All India Tennis Association operates all of the Indian national representative tennis sides, including the India Davis Cup team, the India Fed Cup team and youth sides as well. AITA is also responsible for organising and hosting tennis tournaments within India and scheduling the home international fixtures.
