GUWAHATI : The indoor events of the TOPCEM-ASJA Media Sports Festival 2023, organised by the Assam Sports Journalists Association (ASJA), got under way at the DTRP Indoor Stadium in the city today In the badminton it was double crown for Sivasish Thakur of The Assam Tribune having won the team championship as well as men’s singles. Syeda Reshma Haider of NorthEast Live bagged the women’s singles title. In the team event, Sivasish Thakur’s tandem with Rituraj Borthakur of The Assam Tribune defeated East Mojo 2-1 and Prag News 2-0 to emerge the winner in the league tournament. East Mojo finished runners-up defeating Prag News 2-1 in another match. In the men’s singles, Sivasish got the better of Rituraj in summit clash by 24-22 points. In women’s singles final, Reshma Haider defeated Rima Borthakur of Asomiya Pratidin 11-8, 16-14. Earlier, the badminton event was inaugurated by the Badminton Association of India joint secretary and Assam Badminton Association secretary Omar Rashid.
