GUWAHATI: DY 365 and Shillong Press Club registered comfortable victories in their respective groups in the 4th North East Media Cricket Champions Trophy at Judges’ Field on Sunday.
In the last group A match, DY 365 beat DA News Plus by 23 runs. The match was inaugurated by former BJP MLA Angoorlata Deka. Batting first, DY 365 struck 119 runs in allotted 15 overs. Ankur Borthakur, Deepjyoti Kalita and Kishor Talukdar made 28, 24 and 22 runs respectively. Nipon Medhi took 3 wickets for 16. In reply, DA News Plus managed only 96 runs in 13 overs. Man of the Match Deepjyoti took 4 wickets while Kishor grabbed 2 wickets. Doordarshan Assam already reached the semifinals from this group.
In the second match of the day, Shillong Press Club thrashed debutant NB News by 42 runs. With the help of Ankit Kuman Yadav’s attacking 82 runs the visiting team scored 173 runs in allotted 17 overs losing 7 wickets. Sumit Gurung and Pahara Mukhim added 23 and 21 respectively. Chasing a big total, NB News were bundled out for 131 runs in 16.2 overs. Nayan Sarma hit 36 runs. Ankit shone with the ball also as he claimed 4 wickets for 12 runs. Later, he received the Man of the Match award from sports organizer Kalyan Kumar Das.
NK TV will face Gana Adhikar while ND 24 will face Barak Valley Press Club tomorrow.
