GUWAHATI: He has been associated with cricket coaching in Mumbai for nearly 27 years and produced stars like Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur.

Dinesh Lad, a top class cricket coach of the country, is pleased with the cricket talent and infrastructure in the city and felt that it was possible to produce international cricketers from here.

Lad is in the city to attend a 3-day cricket workshop organized by the Icon Sports Academy at Sapaidang near Narengi. During his stay Lad will interact with the young cricketers of the academy in its indoor cricket arena and will also guide them on how to improve basic cricket skills.

Talking to the media persons at the side line of the workshop Lad, who doesn't charge fees from the cricketers, looked very impressed on the available cricket infrastructure in the city and said these types of infrastructure is enough to produce international cricketers.

"I am really impressed with the cricket infrastructure here. It's very good. Enough to produce quality cricketers for national as well as international level," the coach said.

He is equally impressed with the local talent. The renowned coach said, "I have seen some boys in the net who are very talented. Have the potential to perform well in the coming days."

Highlighting the proposed activities in the three-day workshop Lad said, "Initially we will work on the development of basic skills of the cricketers which I feel is very essential for future progress. I will visit the academy from time to time and will also keep in touch with the progress of cricketers."

Although he produced a couple of international cricketers, Lad is not interested to take its credit. "Yes, Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur were trained under me but it was their quality that took them to the International level. Both were very good cricketers and very eager to learn," said Lad who is associated with Swami Vivekananda School, Borivali, Mumbai.
