GUWAHATI: Silchar made a good start against Biswanath Chariali in the final of the Nuruddin Senior Inter District Cricket tournament at the ACA stadium, Barsapara here today. The side bowled out Biswanath 122 in the first innings and later scored 57-3 in their first innings when the match came to an end early because of heavy showers.
Biswanath today won the toss and decided to bat first. However they made the worst start in their innings losing both the openers when the score was just 2. Neither openers were able to open their account. Thereafter Biswanath lost wickets on regular intervals and finally bowled out 122 in 46.3 overs. Siddhartha Sankar Barua (44, 4X6, 6X1) fought a lone battle with the bat for his side. While Rahul Singh picked up 4-30, Samik Das and Pradip Sarkar bagged two wickets each.
Silchar were 57-3 when the day's play came to an end. Opener Subham Mandal (53) remained not out scoring a half century with the help of 10 boundaries.
