Green Valley lift NN Bhattacharyya Soccer Tournament trophy

Green Valley lifted the NN Bhattacharyya Soccer Tournament title defeating Navajyoti club by a solitary goal at the Nehru Stadium here today. The all important goal of the match was scored by Victor Sadap in the 51st minute.

GUWAHATI: Green Valley lifted the NN Bhattacharyya Soccer Tournament title defeating Navajyoti club by a solitary goal at the Nehru Stadium here today. The all important goal of the match was scored by Victor Sadap in the 51st minute.

Both sides played good soccer but it was the utilization of the opportunity that made the difference between the two sides. Navajyoti gave a good fight in the first half and they made several attacks even after conceding a goal but failed to convert a single one into goal.

Green Valley went into the final upsetting the title contender Assam state Electricity Board Sports Club in the second semifinal of the competition. They started the final with a very positive note and put good pressure in the first 45 minutes of the game. They continued it in the second half also and got the result in the 51st Minute. A nice shot from Sadap went into the goal, deflecting a Navajyoti defender and they were successful to hold the lead till the end of the game.

The closing ceremony was attended by Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh Shah Mohammad Tanvir Mansur as the Chief Guest.

Harish Singh Karki of Green Valley was awarded the best player trophy while Bishnu Basfore of Navajyoti collected the Best Goalkeeper award. Samson of Green Valley received the award of top scorer.
