GUWAHATI: Gurdon Cricket Academy (Nalbari) defeated Noonmati Cricket Coaching Centre by 42 runs and stormed into the semi finals of the 2nd TOPCEM-ASJA All Assam Inter-School/Coaching Centre U-16 Cricket Championships at the Nehru Stadium here on Tuesday. The 35-over a side-match was reduced to 15-over-a-side due to the poor visibility owing to fog. Winning the toss, Gurdon elected to bat and amassed 128/4 in 15 overs. Captain Akash Das remained not out on 37 off 19 balls. Bishal Deka contributed 27. In reply, Noonmati batters could manage only 86/9 in the allotted 15 overs. Extras came in as the highest score for Noonmati with 29 runs. Mriganka Borah scored 14 was the only Noonmati batter to show some resilience. For Gurdon, Jyotirmoy Kalita was the highest wicket taker with a figure of 4/10 from 3 overs. Priyam Talukdar picked up 3 wickets as well. Jyotirmoy was adjudged Man of the Match.
