GUWAHATI: DBI will take on Barekuri in the final of the Guwahati Premier Football League at the Judges Field on Sunday. DBI in the first semi final defeated OILFC 4-1 via tie break. The fate of the second semifinal between Barekuri and NEUFC was decided within scheduled time and Barekuri, who came from behind, beat NEUFC by 2-1.

In the first semifinal OILFC should blame them for the defeat as the side created enough opportunities to settle the game within the scheduled time. Luck was also not with them as on multiple occasions the goal post acted as the 12th player for DBI. However the credit of victory of DBI should go to their custodian December Khongjoh who was terrific below the bar. On the scheduled time he saved at least four goals for his team and even during tie break he saved another two shots.

Dibin Roy Nogspung, Urjoy Brahma, Monjit Taro and Donbok Lyngpoh scored for the winners and Tupu Brahma was the sole player for OILFC who converted a spot kick into goal.

Meanwhile in the second semi final NEUFC took just two minutes to take the lead through Sahjan and they managed to hold the lead till the lemon break. Barekuri needed three minutes in the second half to return the goal which was scored by George Kom. They got the winning goal one minute before the final whistle through Seijoseph Haokip.

Barekuri had to play with 10 men in the last 17 minutes as Dipen Moran received second yellow card in the game and had to go out from the field.
